Makenzie Steele is a Track and Field athlete from Glen Allen, Va. She is a junior at Clemson University where she runs for the cross country and track team in the ‘distance’ position. Steeplechase is Makenzie’s favorite run for events and she runs from a mile to the 5K in track. She was passionate about playing Soccer much before she grew a love for running. She made an immediate switch to running when she tried out for the cross-country team in her junior year of high school. Makenzie represented various clubs and school teams during her kindergarten to sophomore year of high school. After her remarkable contribution to a state team title, she was quickly welcomed into the running community.
Besides running, Makenzie likes to manage her social media accounts where she quite actively shares her journey as a collegiate athlete, and does not just show the high sides of it but also talks about the downs. She also posts updates on many recipes such as plenty of banana breads. Through her social platforms, she aims to inspire others to fuel their bodies with foods of choice and love in order to chase their passions and dreams in life. With the hope that when people come to her page, they must get excited to have fun in the kitchen, Makenzie runs her social account. She tries to create fun flavors and various types of recipes.
In the female running world, body image is a sensitive topic and Makenzie aspires to redefine “healthy” as not something that is set by unrealistic social media standards. Instead, she promotes a healthy life that inhibits a feeling of confidence and happiness along with a balance between spontaneity and dedication towards one’s goals.
