Born on October 30, 1980, Kareem Lamar Rush is a former American professional basketball player who played as a shooting guard. His younger brother, Brandon Lamar Rush, played for the Minnesota Timberwolves, while his older brother JaRon played for UCLA’s college basketball team.
College Career
After graduating from the Pembroke Hill High school in Kansas City, Kareem Lamar Rush went on to attend the University of Missouri in Columbia in the state of Missouri, where he played as a standout guard in the college Basketball team. Notably, Kareem Lamar Rush also averaged around 19.8 points per game as a junior, leading the Basketball team, Tigers, to the Western Regional Finals in the NCAA tournament, where they lost the match to Oklahoma. As a sophomore Kareem Lamar Rush in the 2000-2001 season, the basketball player led the Big 12 in scoring, averaging 21.1 points per game. During this particular time, Kareem Lamar Rush worked with the world-famous conditioning coach, the one and only Istvan Javorek.
Professional Career
- Los Angeles Lakers (2002–2004) – Drafted 20th overall by the Toronto Raptors in 2002 and immediately traded to the Los Angeles Lakers. Although projected as a top-10 pick, he slid lower than expected.
- Charlotte Bobcats (2004–2006) – Traded from the Lakers to the Bobcats for two future draft picks. Played a key role, averaging 11.5 points in 25+ minutes per game, and set a franchise record by scoring 35 points against the Indiana Pacers before an MCL injury cut his season short.
- Seattle SuperSonics (2006) – Signed for the 2006–07 season but suffered a groin injury. Waived in November 2008 to make roster space.
- Indiana Pacers (2007–2008) – Signed July 3, 2007, played as a shooter.
- Philadelphia 76ers (2008–2009) – Signed July 28, 2008.
- Los Angeles D-Fenders (2012) – Signed March 12, 2012, in the NBA D-League.
