Born on February 12, 1993, in Pau, France, Florian Valot is a midfielder in Major League Soccer. He spent his youth years in the Paris Saint-German youth system and Monaco’s reserve team for three years. Valot received a scholarship and attended Rider University after moving to the United States of America. He appeared in 34 matches and scored 13 goals and six assists during his two years at school. He was also a member of the New York Red Bulls II preseason squad as a trialist and played three U-23 games.

He is a professional footballer and plays as a midfielder for Major League Soccer club FC Cincinnati.

Early Career

Valot was a member of the Paris Saint-Germain youth systems as well as Monaco’s reserve team for three years. Then, in 2014, he got a scholarship through which he moved to the United States, attended Rider University, and played for their soccer team. In the 34 games he played with the Rider University team over 2 years, Valot scored 13 goals and 6 assists.

Valot joined the New York Red Bulls II preseason squad as a trialist in 2016 and appeared in three games for their U-23 team.

Then in 2017, leading the New York Red Bulls II in 2017, Florian Valot started the season by scoring a 3-3 draw with the Pittsburgh Riverhounds. He appeared in 32 matches and ended the season, scoring 10 goals and recording 7 assists.

Valot joined the second team from the New York Red Bulls in December 2017 and officially debuted on March 6, 2018, for the first team. In this match of the CONCACAF Champions League, he recorded an assist in a 2-0 victory over Tijuana. He made his first start for New York on March 13, 2018, with the victory over Tijuana in the CONCACAF Champions League by 3-1. He also prepared the club for the semifinals of the Champions League for the first time.

Professional Career

In 2016, Valot joined the American third division side and New York Red Bulls affiliate club. Valot made his appearance with the club in a 4-0 victory against the Wilmington Hammerheads. In the following match, he recorded an assist on the second goal. Valot scored his first goal on October 16, 2016. He scored the goal as a professional, scoring a late winner in a 2-1 victory over FC Cincinnati. Valot scored an equalizing goal for New York in a 1-1 draw with Louisville City FC. The same week Valot also helped the club win with a score of 5-1 over Swope Park Rangers in the 2016 USL Cup Final.

In March 2018, Valot was sent back on a temporary loan to affiliate side New York Red Bulls II during March 2018. Valot became the Captain of New York Red Bulls II and won the match by 2-1 over Toronto FC II, assisting Andrew Tinari in the winning goal on March 17 2018. On May 5, 2018, Valot recorded a goal and an assist in a 4-0 derby victory over New York City FC.

After recovering from a torn ACL, Valot returned to the team at the beginning of the 2019 season. Unfortunately, during the second game of the season, he suffered from another ACL injury missing the entire season. However, on March 1, 2020, Valot returned to the lineup and recorded two assists to lead New York to a 3-2 victory over FC Cincinnati in the opening match of the 2020 campaign.

In early August 2021, Valot was traded to FC Cincinnati for $50,000 in General Allocation Money and another $50,000 based on his performance.
